An Ohio man suspected of driving while intoxicated performed a backflip to try to convince police officers of his sobriety. Body-worn camera video released by the Broadview Heights Police Department shows the Nov. 23 traffic stop in Broadview Heights. The driver, 27-year-old Tanner Watson, told officers hed had “three or four” beers over the previous several hours. “Yeah man, youre drivings pretty bad, your eyes are super glossy,” an officer says. The officers begin a field sobriety test. Watson appears to have some difficulty with an eye-tracking test, and mentions getting dizzy from it. Officers tell Watson the second test will be walking in a straight line. Instead, Watson removes his hat and lands a backflip.” The officers laugh. “Thats good man,” one says; “pretty good man,” says the other. Watson asks what constitutes a “straight line” exactly, because his idea of a straight line and the officers idea of a straight line might differ. The officer asks, “Have you had any psychedelic drugs today?” Watson said no. He was nevertheless arrested and charged with speeding and operating a vehicle impaired. In the video, Watson asks officers what proof they have that he was impaired. “Tanner, you cant tell me what a straight line is,” an officer says.
