An elderly driver in Wisconsin was rescued by police after his minivan “erupted in flames” Tuesday night, police said.
Officers with the Kenosha Police Department spotted the minivan driving on a flat tire shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday.
A video shared by police shows sparks flying from the wheel as officers try to pull over the 84-year-old driver, with their lights flashing and siren blaring. The driver does not stop, however.
Moments later there is a large burst of flames, engulfing the back of the minivan and leaving a long trail of fire on the road until the driver eventually stops.
The driver opens the door as the entire vehicle becomes engulfed in flames, and officers quickly pull him to safety. There were no injuries, police said.
“With selfless public service KPD officers ran towards the flames and pulled the driver to safety,” the police department wrote alongside the video on Facebook. “Thanks to the officers for their selfless service to community.”
