Mona Lisa smeared with cake after disguised man disrupts Louvre Museum

A man who seemed to be disguised in a ladies’ wig jumped up from a wheelchair to throw cake at the Mona Lisa in the Louvre Museum in Paris on Sunday. Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece was protected by glass, and unharmed. Videos show a long line of museum visitors in the gallery filming the stunt, which was apparently meant as a climate protest. Luke Sundberg shared a video on Instagram and Twitter, saying the man attempted to smash the bullet proof glass of the Mona Lisa. Then proceeds to smear cake on the glass, and throws roses everywhere all before being tackled by security. Video shows a museum staff member wiping the cream from the painting’s protective cover. Another clip shows security escorting the man out of the museum as he shouts to onlookers in French, Think of the Earth. Artists tell you, think of the Earth.
