An explosive crash between a dump truck and an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) vehicle was captured on video Thursday morning. At 7:29 a.m. on May 12, traffic cameras captured a dump truck striking an ODOT vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 77 in Green, Ohio. The collision caused an explosion, and other vehicles had to swerve to avoid the flames billowing into traffic. Both drivers were rescued from the burning vehicles and transported to the hospital, according to the Summit County Sheriffs Office, which is investigating the crash. ODOT District 4 Deputy Director Gery Noirot said in a video statement that the highway technician had stopped to pick up trash along the roadway. Noirot said the employee was being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. While the cause of the crash has not yet been determined by the sheriffs office, Noirot reminded drivers to keep their attention on the road, and slow down for roadside workers.
