Police in Maryland are searching for three suspects, believed to be juveniles, in an armed assault on a school bus on Monday.
According to the Prince Georges County Police Department, a school bus had just stopped at Iverson Street and Sutler Drive in Oxon Hill to drop off students on the afternoon of May 1 when the three suspects boarded the bus.
Surveillance images released by the police show the hooded, masked suspect, at least one of whom is holding a handgun. The suspects attacked a boy who remained on the bus, police said.
Ammunition was recovered from the bus, and detectives believe one of the suspects attempted to shoot the boy, but the weapon malfunctioned. The motive for the assault is still under investigation.
The victim sustained minor injuries in the assault, police said. Two adults, a driver and a bus aide, were not injured.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
